Letter from the founder
Today the world is experiencing an unprecedented increase in innocent victims of armed conflict. These victims have included Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), working in regions that most need their assistance. This violence has undermined desperately needed humanitarian assistance and stabilization. That’s why I fight today to improve the situation and the urgent needs of this new reality.
My name is Jean-François Larose, former Canadian Federal Member of Parliament from 2011 to 2015. Through my experience in the National Defense Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee, my business trips around the world – particularly as spokesman for NGOs in Ottawa – I have seen increasing dangers threatening the humanitarian aid field. So I set up the company Azøth Humanitarian Global Defense (HDG), a non-profit organization (NPO) that acts to defend human rights and ensure respect for humanitarian law through peacekeeping.
Let’s make the protection of Humanitarian Aid our mission and together build a peaceful and just world.
For 25 years, founding CEO Jean-François Larose, has held the ambitious dream of bringing about an essential change for international security. Having served as a peace officer, former military, corrections officer and most recently federal MP to the National Defense and the Foreign Affairs Committees he holds a qualified perspective to accomplish this dream.
Noting a lack of alternatives available to NGOs on the ground, and growing insecurity in peacekeeping missions, he decided to found Azøth Humanitarian Global Defense (HGD).
The organization is dedicated to supporting humanitarian missions and local populations in a sustainable manner. On the one hand, humanitarian missions do not necessarily have the technical or logistical means to ensure their own protection. On the other, the local authorities in risk zones may not have the human or financial resources to oversee it.
Azøth works with both Humanitarian Aid missions to ensure safety of teams and facilities, as well as with communities by providing services & training to bring about the general sense of security essential to the development of peace.
Azøth works to empower communities to be independent and in control of their own future.
